High-Scale, High-Security Search = Successful Strategy
The search platform upon which digIT is built was recently cited as "tough to beat" by Forrester Wave Reports
The report stated that the best fit for this search technology is as a broad-based standard enterprise search platform serving high-scale, high-security search applications, or as a content intelligence platform for analyzing patterns and trends in information for purposes that include:
- Marketing Intelligence
- E-Discovery
- Competitive Intelligence
- Risk Management
- Intellectual Property Protection
- Information Security
- Surveillance
Add to this robust search technology a collection of patent-pending functionality designed by DigIT Technologies to meet the needs of litigators and the result is a powerful combination of technologies created to swiftly scan terabytes of information in order to locate the necessary information to build or defend your case.
The most common approach to searching unstructured data is the use of keyword searches. Although this method can identify documents in which the keyword appears, it cannot determine how relevant the document is to the subject being researched. It simply looks for the occurrence of keywords, unable to decipher whether the concept represented by the search term is related to the main idea of a document.
In addition, keyword-based approaches sometimes make the mistake of assuming that the more often a word occurs in a document, the more relevant the document is to the search. This is not always the case. Consider the following phrase: "I was walking down the street the other night. It was a long street, a dark street...and at the end of the street I was attacked by a mugger." Although the word "street" appears four times in one sentence, the phrase is really about a crime.
Concept-based search technology within digIT provides an advantage in better understanding the context of your content – and perhaps uncovering information that otherwise may have gone unnoticed.
Conducting a Search Using digIT
For ease of use, the digIT interface is designed to have a familiarity about it – similar to any popular internet search engines. The user enters a keyword or search term, selects the number of results per page and relevancy score (meaning any other documents with a certain percentage of sameness to the search term), and selects search filters such as, by custodian, by date range or by type of document.
